Mediterranean Classics

Rome → Athens → Greek islands → Istanbul

"Three civilisations, three capitals, three of the world's best cuisines."

The classic European cultural circuit, sequenced so the food and the history build instead of compete. Rome warms you up, Athens sharpens you, the islands soften you, and Istanbul finishes the meal. Three weeks is the minimum — four would be better.

Best season

May–June or September–early October

Budget

€150–220 per person per day

Pace

Fast-paced for the cities, slow for the islands

Best for

History-minded travellers, food obsessives, anyone who loves a long lunch
