Pre-book sunset; the 148th floor is the upgraded view.
A short, high-energy stop that pairs well with whatever's next on your day. Comfortable shoes do more for you here than any guidebook.
Quick at around 2 hours — pair it with something close by to make the trip across town worthwhile. Based in Dubai. Map it before you leave the hotel so you arrive from the right side of the entrance.

Culture
Old Dubai walking tour, traditional dhow ferry across the creek.
Expect a slower-paced stop where the value is in the story — bring a guide app or a paper map, and budget time to actually read the plaques rather than rush from photo to photo.

Best time to visit
Peak: Jan, Feb, Mar, Nov, Dec
November to March is when Dubai and Abu Dhabi are designed to be enjoyed — beach weather without the heatstroke, desert safaris comfortable, every rooftop bar open. April through October is genuinely dangerous heat; outdoor anything moves indoors or to dawn.
Right now (Jun)
Avoid — average 40°C, expect brutal.
Booking lead time
Burj Khalifa sunset slots and desert safaris: 2 weeks in winter, same-week in summer.

The UAE — really meaning Dubai and Abu Dhabi for most travellers — is an exercise in scale. The world's tallest building, biggest mall, fastest indoor ski slope, all within the same metro stop. Underneath the spectacle, the older neighbourhoods (Deira, Al Fahidi) hint at the trading-port city Dubai was a generation ago.
It's expensive but very easy: English everywhere, world-class metro, and 35°C winters that are actually pleasant.
