China is enormous, ancient, and changes faster than any country in the world. The Great Firewall is real
Google (search, Maps, Gmail), WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter, YouTube, and most Western news outlets are blocked nationwide. Install a paid VPN BEFORE you arrive — the App Store and Play Store filter VPN apps once your phone connects to a Chinese network.
Cash is dying
